Absolutely stunning 1800's'daubier' or stew pot.A staple of french families over the centuries,'daube' is a very popular dish, served often as part of a'menu' here in france today, where you can get a three course meal usually for around just 13 or 14. The pan is in amazing condition and is rare with a cast iron handle. Stamped'30' on the lid and base depicting the size. In very clean condition, one tiny'dink' which is hardly noticeable. The inside is in good overall condition, please see photos for all details. The bottom shows a little brass around the edges where it is worn, as usual, a lot of the copper pans are brass with copper plate. The handle is very strong and solid, this piece has been very well looked after over the years. It is very heavy, true quality. Total weight: 3.74 kg. Lid: 21cm - 8.28.
