A gorgeous large and heavy antique french copper saucepan sourced from a brocante in the haute savoie region of south east france. It dates from the late 1800s and is handcrafted from copper which varies from 2-2.5 mm. The handle is made from wrought iron, it has a smooth surface and great symmetry associated with this 19th century technique. The handle is secured with copper rivets. The saucepan is stamped "h de geneve" - hotel of geneva and this refers to a hotel in annecy, haute savoie region - it lies on the northern tip of lake annecy, 35 kilometres south of geneva, switzerland.This is an ancient hotel and restaurant that was an old coaching inn back in the 1800s, just lovely. This is a wonderful top quality large saucepan that is worth getting re-tinned and fettled as it will last for ages. Overall length - 16, 41 cms. Pan height - 6, 15 cms. Diameter - 8, 20 cms.
Weight - 7.10 lbs or 3.22 kgs. Condition - signs of age and use. The tin lining is worn and needs replacing. The pan has had a knock so is not a perfect round anymore. Generally tarnish, marks and scratches.
