This is a stunning large traditional french hammered copper stock pot/la brasiere/confit pot used for slow cooking such as braising, stewing, casseroles, making stocks, soups. It is an essential copper pot for the professional chef or amateur home cook. The precise date of manufacture is unknown, it is thought likely to have been made in 1800s or thereabouts.
Pots of this size and condition are hard to find, it has dovetailed seams on the base and side. The pot has two beautifully detailed bronze side handles which are riveted securely to the sides of the pot with four sturdy copper rivets on each handle. The lid fits very tightly which is ideal for slow cooking and braising. The tin lining to the pot base is thinning and shows slight copper in places, the tinning to the lid is in good condition. The pot has had a past life and therefore there are signs of use, scratches and minor dents and imperfections.
