Made in the 1900s with the skill and craftsmanship of a piece from dehillerins. These initial l was used to identify the item from theft and also when the item was sent away to be retinned. One of three dehillerin pieces initialed l from the same kitchen.
This is a heavy and well made item that would have been in constant daily use by a professional chef or domestic cook in either a restaurant or country house. The thickness of the copper is 2.8mm thick but may have orginally been up to 3mm due to age use and polishing. Condition is great for age with just age related scratches and scuffs, but no splits or tears.The interior tin lining is in good useable condition with minor copper bleeding through on rivets. This is a worthwhile investment that can be passed down through the generations. The thick iron handle connects the body with three handmade copper rivets so very robust, and made to last.
