This rather rare and unusual most probably teapot was made by the well respected firm of benham and froud london who made all manner of top quality brass and copper domestic wares. This is the first time i have ever seen a side pour teapot and by this firm. It is in very good condition and is fully watertight although has suffered some dents and shallow bruising. It is dovetailed up the body behind the handle and around the base. You would be forgiven for thinking this is a normal kettle which lost its traditional handle and had been replaced by one to the side, but no there has been no conversion it has genuinely been made as you see it.It seems to be some sort of christopher dresser hybrid maybe the orb and cross is stamped to the base with the number 3 which is the volume of 3 pints. It is an interesting and unusual piece. This item is made of copper.
