It is relatively large for a saucepan which means it would have belonged to a large french estate. With its wood and brass handle, and small spout, this sauce pan was used for heating a range of different liquids and pouring directly over a finished dish or adding it back to meat or vegetables. Today, it would make a great addition to any home or kitchen. As with all of our items, it is an authentic antique and not a reproduction. Therefore, it is a particularly nice piece for those who will appreciate its history and enjoy being the caretaker of a valuable piece of culture and craftsmanship.
What makes this piece unique (condition, assembly). What we really like about this piece is its rounded shape, small size and brass and wooden handle. Since we've finely polished the copper, light reflects off of it to give it that object of interest feel.
And the wooden handle is smooth and easy to handle. Experience the item and inspect it further. Brilliant seams of brass brazing run down the side beneath the handle and circle the bottom in discrete and intriguing ways. The light hammering marks from when the copper was worked into place remind you that this is a handcrafted object.
Forged nearly 300 years ago by someone who worked it into shape, joined it, and polished it, as we have done, to a fine glow. And other than some general wear and tear that comes with age, it's still in great condition and would make a lovely gift or addition to anyone. This piece has withstood the test of time and will continue to with little care required for many more years to come.Measurements: 28cm length with handle / diameter 16cm / 12cm height. Weight (kg / lbs): 260 grams.
