1800-1850 French Copper Saucepan Set, 4 Antique French Mismatched Rustic Copper Saucepans, Long Iron Rat's Tail Loop Handles, Decor or Use
These came from a restaurant closure locally and had been on display for decades. They are slightly mismatched in that one of them has a curved handle whereas the others are flat and one has a hammered finish, the others smooth. However they all date from the same period roughly 1800s to 1850s. The handles are all long, made from low carbon wrought iron and are known as rat's tail hanging loop handles for obvious reasons. This design also dates them. They are approx diameter x depth. Small - 7.5 x 3.25, 18.5 x 8.5 cms, 1.5 mm copper. This has a tin lining which is just wearing on the rivets, i would consider it usable. S/m - 8 x 2.5, 20.5 x 6.5 cms. 1.25 mm copper, tin lining ditto above.
Medium - 9.25 x 3.25, 23.5 x 8.5 cms. 1.25 mm copper, ditto tin lining. Large - 10.25 x 4.25, 26 x 11 cms.
2 mm copper, no tin lining. Combined weight - 12.4 lbs or 5.62 kgs. Chef's rule of thumb ref tin lining, once 1/4 of copper shows through it is time for re-tinning. Additional condition - generally signs of age and use. Marks, scratches, tarnish, small dents, etc.
A characterful ancient set of pans that you could use or display beautifully. Eu clients i can mondial relay, ask for price as country specific. This item is made of iron and tin, copper.
